Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu via Llactapata Inca Ruins 5 Days

Day 1: Cusco – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Soyroccocha We start day one at 5 a.m. by driving you in our van from your hotel to Soraypampa. During this three-and-a-half-hour road trip, you’ll see the stunning Salkantay snow capped mountain and great views of the Limatambo and Iscuchaca districts, as well as spectacular valleys. Once we reach the trailhead in Soraypampa, we power up with breakfast while admiring the breathtaking views of the mountain glaciers of Humantay (19,356 feet) and Salkantay (20,396 feet). We then take a 2.5 hours round-trip hike up to check out the turquoise Humantay Lake. Next, we take about one and a half hours to ascend to Salkantay Pampa, where you can look forward to a great lunch in front of the majestic glacier. Next, we make our way to our first campsite at Soroccocha, situated at the foot of the towering Salkantay Mountain. At camp, will have afternoon tea to warm up and relax before dinner. Humantay Lake Trek 1 Days

OVERVIEW: Duration: Full Day 4:30am- 5pm Distance: 7 km (4.4 Miles) Round Trip  – 3 hours of hiking Elevation: 3,869m (12,690 feet) / 4,200m (13,779 feet) Difficulty: moderate HUMANTAY LAKE TREKKING  1 DAY – ITINERARY DAY  1 – CUSCO – HUMANATAY LAKE – CUSCO  We pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30am and drive 3 hours to the trailhead of  Soraypampa located in the lush valley of the Apurimac River. Here we will enjoy hot breakfast made by our professional chef. We hike along a path called the “Camino Real,” as we gain altitude. After reaching the tiny village, where few amenities exist, we continue for another hour and a half, ascending 1,200 feet in just 2 miles up a steep path. After conquering the last hill, we will gaze down on a turquoise lake below, which is surrounded by steep peaks and an impressive glacier. On the trek you are surrounded by the Salkantay Mountains, one of Peru’s most sacred mountains, towering 20,600 feet with a sheer and snowy face. The equally impressive Humantay Peak, rising 19,412 feet, is also within view. Shamans and other natives will often give blessing when reaching the crystal-clear waters of Humantay Lake.  Once we reach the lakeshore, we relax, enjoy a snack, go for a swim (if you are brave!) or give thanks to Pachamama (Mother Earth). When you are ready to hike back down, we will descend to Soraypampa and have a hot lunch while enjoying the breathtaking panoramic views of the snowy peaks….

Wilderness Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, Llactapata Ruins Included 4 Days

0 Day 1 – CUSCO – SORAYPAMPA – HUMANTAY LAGOON – SALKANTAY PAMPA – PAMPA JAPONESA We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 am in our private transportation. We begin our adventure in the direction of Mollepata, which we pass on our 3 hour van ride towards the trail head at Soraypampa (3,800m/12,467ft). When we arrive at Soraypampa, you will enjoy a hot breakfast prepared by our chef. After breakfast, you will give your duffel bags to our horsemen and be ready to begin your trekking adventure on the Salkantay trek by hiking up to Humantay Lagoon. This hike takes about 1.5 hours and will take you to the base of Humantay Mountain, where you get to take in the beautiful, crystalline-blue waters of the Humantay Lagoon. After time to be mesmerized by the beauty of such an incredible creation of nature, you will begin hiking back down to the starting point to continue with your trek to the place, where you will enjoy a hot lunch. This return hike takes about 2 hours as you descend to Salkantaypampa at (3,900km/12,795ft) arriving at about 1 p.m. Salkantaypampa is located on the base of the Salkantay glacier mountain and has some incredible views of the Salkantay Mountain. After lunch, you will gradually hike uphill for around 3 hours until the campsite of Pampa Japonesa at (4,250m/13,943ft). There, you get to sleep under the unforgettable star filled night sky at the base of the majestic Salkantay Mountain….
